BASF Corp.is providing New York and New Jersey with hand sanitizers free of charge. The products are manufactured at the company’s New Jersey facility.

As hand sanitizer supplies are dwindling, more companies are stepping up to fill the gap. BASF is one of these and will help to meet the increased demand to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. BASF does not regularly produce hand sanitizer at the New Jersey location, but a team of BASF scientists and engineers worked on a compressed timeline to develop a safe and high-quality product.

“Our dedicated team has been working tirelessly to launch this production line to help ease the critical shortage of disinfecting agents needed to fight COVID-19," said Daniele Piergentili, vice president of BASF Home and Personal Care, North America.

According to the company, the facility will produce approximately 3,500 gallons of hand sanitizer to be distributed to health care systems and government agencies in New Jersey and New York, and other BASF locations in the U.S.

“I want to give a big shout out to BASF, which is donating 1,000 gallons of hand sanitizer that is being produced right here, in-state, at their facility in Washington Borough, Warren County,” said New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy during a recent press briefing about the state’s efforts to fight the virus. “We are greatly appreciative of their efforts.”

Following the company’s “Helping Hands” campaign in Germany, BASF teams worldwide are supporting the fight against COVID-19 by producing and donating hand sanitizers to hospitals, health care facilities and other institutions.
