Curie Co. has launched AmpliPQ-CF, a modern preservation system built for clean and sustainable cosmetics and personal care formulations. According to the company, the ingredient boosts the efficacy of sodium benzoate to deliver robust, broad-spectrum protection while meeting clean label standards.

Clean, Synergistic Broad-Spectrum Protection

Brands and formulators face growing pressure to preserve beauty products with fewer, more broadly acceptable components while still delivering uncompromised microbiological protection. AmpliPQ-CF (proposed INCI: Sodium Benzoate (and) Polyamine) was built for that reality.

Based on Curie Co.’s proprietary AmpliPQ technology platform, AmpliPQ-CF is a chelator-free preservation system that combines sodium benzoate with a polyamine booster. This unique synergy is said to deliver broad-spectrum protection in formulations at or below pH 6.

According to the company, AmpliPQ-CF also serves as an effective alternative to phenoxyethanol, empowering formulators to move away from traditional preservatives while maintaining product integrity.

“AmpliPQ-CF delivers the preservation simplicity brands want, while meeting modern expectations for performance and clean beauty alignment,” said Erika Milczek, CEO of Curie Co.

Versatility Across Rinse-Off and Leave-On Applications

AmpliPQ-CF is designed for versatility and ease of use in a manufacturing environment, per Curie Co. It is water-soluble, colorless and odorless in formulation, making it compatible with fragrances and dyes. This supports modern sensory expectations without complicating the development process.

In addition, the system can be used across a wide range of rinse-off and leave-on applications in pH 3-6 systems, including:

  • Shampoos and conditioners
  • Facial cleansers and body washes
  • Skin care serums and creams

By enhancing the antimicrobial activity of sodium benzoate, AmpliPQ-CF reportedly makes high-performance preservation accessible for mass-market and prestige brands alike.

Meeting Rigorous Clean Standards

Regulatory compliance and retailer alignment are at the core of AmpliPQ-CF’s development. The product is readily biodegradable and compliant with US and EU regulations, the company reports. It is also free from isothiazolinones, phenoxyethanol, parabens and formaldehyde-releasing ingredients.

Lastly, AmpliPQ-CF is designed to meet many of the most stringent clean beauty and retailer standards, including:

  • Clean Beauty at Walmart
  • Target Clean
  • Conscious Beauty at Ulta
  • Sephora
