Solabia USA has announced the commercial launch of Oleoveil (INCI: hydrogenated dimer dilinoleic acid/polypropanediol-8 copolymer), a 100% bio-based film former engineered to bring an elegant, second skin feel to natural and mineral formulations.
Developed as a clean-label alternative to traditional petrochemical-based film formers, Oleoveil bridges the gap between clean ingredient profiles and high-performance product wear.
Rather than maximizing pure hydrophobicity like conventional film formers, Oleoveil utilizes an expertly optimized ratio of hydrophobic and hydrophilic monomers. This specialized amphiphilic structure grants the polymer a powerful, natural affinity for the skin, enabling it to deposit a highly flexible, comfortable matrix upon application.
Oleoveil alters the sensory layout of plant-derived oils, adding a smooth, luxurious, silicone-like slip to natural lipid bases.
The ingredient physically reduces the unappealing pilling behavior frequently triggered by natural gums in sun care systems. It concurrently works to reduce the streakiness, tackiness, greasiness, and heaviness inherent to rich botanical oils.
Water and Transfer Resistance: Thanks to its film-forming architecture, Oleoveil enhances the longwear properties of cosmetics by providing robust water and transfer resistance.
Beyond its tactile advantages, the polymer leaves the skin with a beautifully blurred, soft-focus optical finish.
Oleoveil is completely vegan, making it an ideal choice for cosmetic chemists seeking to upgrade the wear, performance, and application aesthetics of clean sun care, color cosmetics, and skin-barrier products.
