Vagaro, a software platform that helps salons, spas and fitness businesses manage appointments, payments and client scheduling, has partnered with ScriptSure to launch E-Prescribe. The new module aims to simplify how medspas and other providers manage prescriptions.
The feature enables practitioners to electronically send prescriptions to approve refills and send new prescriptions to any retail or mail-order pharmacy within the Surescripts network, according to a Nov. 10 press release.
“By combining scheduling, payments, client management and now prescriptions into one system, we’re helping medspas deliver exceptional care with confidence and efficiency,” said Fred Helou, CEO of Vagaro.
Physicians, who typically own medspas, as well as nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants, prescribe medications daily, including weight loss drugs, hormone therapy and medical-grade acne medications, including topicals. To meet Drug Enforcement Administration requirements for prescribing controlled substances, Vagaro also partnered with ID.me to verify provider identities and issue DEA-compliant credentials.
“Medspas are offering more advanced services, but outdated prescription processes have slowed providers down,” said Helou. “With E-Prescribe, we’re giving professionals the tools to work faster, safer, and more affordably.”
