At the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC), during the TED Countdown session, Symrise unveiled Houston, a digital platform developed with CO2 AI that enables the real-time measurement and management of carbon footprints at product and corporate levels.
With advanced analytics, seamless integration and transparent reporting tools, Houston is said to empower Symrise and its partners to prioritize decarbonization actions, ensure regulatory compliance and advance company-wide sustainability targets.
Symrise’s engagement at COP30 also extended to the BMZ/GIZ Combú Island dialogue. It joined a select group of stakeholders, including the German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development, to advance public-private dialogues between German and Brazil to foster economic development.
“Our partnership with Symrise and Natura shows how inclusive business models work in practice — bringing indigenous and local products to market, raising and stabilizing incomes, and empowering the guardians of the Amazon Rainforest, said Reem Alabali Radovan, German federal minister for economic cooperation and development.
In addition, prior to COP30, Symrise co-chaired the Sustainable Business Bioeconomy Working Group, collaborating with industry, government and civil society to connect climate goals with business innovation and social progress. Symrise shared best practices for scaling sustainable sourcing and circular technologies across the value chain, helping shape the global conversation on biodiversity and resource efficiency.
“Launching the Houston platform marks a milestone in our decarbonization journey. CO2 AI’s platform acts as enabler to accelerate our vision of one carbon accounting language serving both corporate and product purposes," said Isabella Tonaco, Ph.D., chief sustainability officer.
"Our programs aim to unite climate action, biodiversity protection and social progress — so customers and communities thrive together,” added Stephanie Cossmann, Ph.D., a member of the executive board for human resources (labor director), legal and sustainability.
