Society of Cosmetic Chemists Releases Election Results for 2023

The Society of Cosmetic Chemists (SCC) has announced the election results for the 2023 board of directors and area directors. This governing body is focused on the mission, strategy and goals of the society and is responsible for representing the interests of individual cosmetics and personal care industry members.

Executive board members and area directors for 2023 include the following.

President

Mark Chandler, president of ACT Solutions Corp. and member of the Mid-Atlantic chapter, will serve as the 2023 SCC president. In response to the announcement, Chandler said: “I look forward to working with this diverse and industry-experienced group of board members as we continue to develop a future-focused organization, committed to increased engagement opportunities of value to our members.”

Vice President

Anthony J. O’Lenick, Surfatech Corp./Nascent Technologies Corp., Dacula, GA, and member of the Southeast chapter will serve as vice president. 

Vice President-elect

Akshay Talati, Goop, Santa Monica, CA, and member of the Long Island chapter will serve as vice president-elect.

Secretary

Qihong Zhang, Ph.D., of The Estée Lauder Cos., Melville, NY, and member of the New York chapter will serve as secretary.

Treasurer    

Yulia A. Park, Ph.D., of Amway Corp, Grand Rapids, MI, and member of the Michigan chapter will serve as treasurer.    

Area I

Continuing in their Area I roles are: Marie Thadal, Coptis Inc., senior area director and member of the New York chapter; and Volodymyr Onyshchak, The Estée Lauder Cos., area director and member of the Long Island chapter.

Area II

Continuing in their Area II roles are: Melissa Christenson, Bridge product design + development, senior area director and member of the Twin Cities chapter; and Sophie Bonham, Cosmos Corp., area director and member of the St. Louis chapter.

Area III

Aaron Peterson, Barnet Products, a member of the Intermountain West chapter, will continue as senior area director and Valerie George, Simply Formulas, Inc., is the newly elected area director and a member of the California chapter.

Area IV

Cubie Lamb, J. Strickland & Co., continues as the senior area director and is a member of the Southeast chapter, and Cynthia Johnson, Cindy J. Cosmetic Labs, LLC, is the newly elected area director and a member of the Mid-Atlantic chapter.

Area V

Lionel Ripoll, Ph.D., of the Université du Québec à Chicoutimi, will continue as the senior area director and is a member of the Québec chapter, and Dorothy Maraprossians, of Azelis Canada, Inc., is the newly elected area director and a member of the Ontario chapter.    

Ongoing Support

The newly elected leaders are joined by immediate past president Michelle Hines, Ph.D., (Mary Kay, Inc.) and IFSCC representative Peter Tsolis (The Estée Lauder Companies), both of whom serve on the board in an ex officio capacity.

Erica L. O’Grady, chief executive officer of the SCC, said: “I am excited to partner with this distinguished group leading SCC in 2023. These individuals will be integral in helping create value-centric programs, products and services for our members and chapters with an emphasis on building a strong future for the SCC." She adds that "their passion for this industry, coupled with their diverse perspectives, will help chart a clear and sustainable path forward for the organization."
