On Monday, November 4, 2013, in London, attendees packed the ballroom of The Jumeirah Carlton Tower, London, for an event in which CEW(UK) recognized and celebrated the top talent in the beauty industry at its annual Achiever Awards.
This year’s CEW(UK) Achiever Awards went to four women who share the same basic traits—they inspire, they exhibit a high degree of humanity and a willingness to teach others. The awards offer a vision of the beauty industry that is filled with talented, passionate and unique individuals. The following women received a 2013 CEW(UK) Achiever Award:
- Elizabeth Fagan, marketing director, health and beauty international and brands, Boots UK
- Tracey Woodward, commercial director, Urban Retreat Ltd.
- Sue James, editorial director, Woman & Home magazine
- Julietta Dexter, founding partner, The Communications Store
The most highly anticipated announcement of the evening was the winner of the 2013 CEW(UK) Members’ Achiever Award, a special award for an up-and-coming star within the beauty industry that is chosen by CEW(UK) members. This year the winner was Bella Blissett, You magazine beauty columnist and freelance journalist. Finalists also included Jamila Askarova, co-founder, Gazelli Skincare; Charlotte Knight, founder and creative director, Ciaté London; and Christina Moss and Julia Yule, co-founders and directors, Bloom and Blossom.
Additionally, each year the CEW(UK) board recognizes one special individual with the CEW(UK) Special Industry Award. For 2013, it went to Sean Harrington, managing director of Elemis. A hugely respected and well-known figure in the industry, CEW(UK) was delighted to honor Harrington’s work with this award.
The evening was enhanced by the attendance of so many supportive family, friends and colleagues of those receiving awards giving the whole event a wonderfully warm atmosphere and making it an evening to remember.
