The company is transforming its Arroyito site in Argentina into its first full fermentation-based enzyme production hub in Latin America, while also opening a household care application laboratory in Brazil at its regional innovation center. Together, the investments expand IFF’s ability to develop, produce and test bioscience-driven solutions closer to customers in the region.
The Arroyito upgrade marks a shift from local finishing and packaging to full-cycle enzyme production beginning at the biological fermentation stage. By localizing fermentation capacity, IFF aims to improve supply reliability, shorten development timelines and enable faster adjustments for customers across sectors including brewing, animal nutrition, biofuels and cleaning products.
“This is about turning science into impact where it matters most,” said Letícia Gonçalves, president of IFF H&B. “By bringing world‑class fermentation and application capabilities to Latin America, we are accelerating innovation for our customers and translating that into better food, more effective cleaning solutions and everyday products that improve quality of life for millions of consumers across the region.”

Complementing the production expansion, the new Brazilian household care application lab will focus on laundry and dishwashing systems, allowing formulators to evaluate enzyme performance under regional washing conditions and water profiles. The facility is intended to speed formulation development and strengthen collaboration with detergent manufacturers working on next-generation cleaning products.
For the flavor and fragrance sector, the move underscores the growing strategic role of industrial biotechnology within F&F portfolios, particularly as enzyme technologies increasingly influence food processing, ingredient functionality and sustainable product design.
The investments also reflect Latin America’s emergence as a key growth engine for bioscience-enabled ingredients, where local manufacturing and application testing are becoming critical to meeting regional formulation requirements and scaling innovation.
“Latin America is a dynamic growth market for bioscience‑enabled solutions,” said Deia Vilela, vice president of Latin America for IFF H&B. “What’s most exciting is how this momentum is being shaped through deeper partnerships with customers and teams across the region, creating a strong foundation for sustained innovation and shared growth in the years ahead.”
