Univar Solutions has developed New Solutions, a line of metaverse-inspired products that offers a variety of formulation choices, including ingredients for a cream shadow, conditioner, styler, jelly or cleanser.
The launch stems from the beautyverse, a branch of the metaverse with virtual ways of trying cosmetic products, personalization of avatars and more.
In July 2022, Accenture's Audrey Depraeter-Montacel noted, "The metaverse is much more than gaming. In fact, about 60% of millennials want to buy real-life products in virtual worlds. Even among baby boomers, one-third of consumers are interested in services such as consulting with experts in a virtual or augmented reality setting on topics such as hair or makeup tutorials."
Indeed, 2022 has been the year of metaverse-beauty collaborations, the latest of which is Nyx's forthcoming spring 2023 collection drop in iHeartLand on Roblox.
Univar Solutions' new collection taps into that momentum.

The featured product formulations include:
Eye Glow HP - Cream Shadow features DOWSIL ES-5600 Silicone Glycerol Emulsifier (INCI: Cetyl Diglyceryl Tris(Trimethylsiloxy)silylethyl Dimethicone) to add color and texture, and DOWSIL EL-TIPS Silicone Elastomer (INCI: C13-15 Alkane (and) Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer), providing a smooth after-feel and compatibility with organic oils, including sunscreens.
Catch the Virtual Sun Cream includes SunSpheres BIO SPF Booster (INCI: Microcrystalline Cellulose), a booster with UV filters, and Floraesters K-20W Jojoba (INCI: Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters (and) Water (Aqua)).
Meta Face Solid Cleansing Stick includes Coconad RK (INCI: Tricaprylin), a middle chain fatty acid triglyceride that provides emolliency, lubricity and a silky feel on the skin, and natural vegan beeswax substitute (INCI: Oryza sativa (Rice) Bran cera, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower) Seed cera, Rhus succedanea Fruit cera) from PothHille, that is a blend of natural, vegan and palm free waxes formulated to reproduce beeswax characteristics.
