Momentive Performance Materials, Inc. has introduced Harmonie NatuVel Gel, a 100% plant-based elastomer gel designed to support the clean beauty market. The company debuted the ingredient at In-cosmetics Global 2025.
Translucent and Plant-based Solution
Harmonie NatuVel Gel (INCI: Coco-Caprylate/Caprate (and) Polyglyceryl-2 Isostearate/Dimer Dilinoleate Copolymer (and) Squalane) was developed following the Twelve Principles of Green Chemistry and made entirely from plant-based raw materials. The translucent, patent-pending gel is reportedly designed to offer the performance of traditional silicone elastomers in a biobased format.
Key Benefits for Formulators
The ingredient offers several key benefits for skin care, sun care and color cosmetics, including:
- Delivering soft-focus and mattifying effects with a smooth, luxurious texture,
- Reducing the oily feel of UV filters and other cosmetic ingredients, and
- Supporting pigment dispersion and w/o emulsion stability.
