AAK has announced that three of its shea-based emollients now carry the south pole climate neutral product label due to a partnership with FairClimateFund.

The project reduces CO2 emissions through energy-efficient cookstoves that also improve health and safety and save firewood, minimizing the impact on the landscape in the project areas.

Emollients with the updated label include:

LIPEX SheaSoft TR (INCI: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter) — A climate-neutral, creamy-textured semi-solid ingredient that offers heat stability and crystallization properties.

LIPEX SheaLiquid TR (INCI: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter— A climate-neutral, low-spreading liquid shea butter that can be used without the risk of crystallization. It offers good stability and is suitable for low energy processing.

LIPEX Shea (INCI: Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter— A climate-neutral, optimized pure shea butter with a crystallization profile and high oxidative stability. It is suitable for use in skin care applications.

The fairtrade premium from the carbon credit scheme goes back to households for communities to invest in climate adaptation measures to further protect the landscape around them.
