The Estée Lauder Companies (ELC) has opened a new BioTech Hub in Olen, Belgium. This dedicated facility will focus on the manufacturing of bio-based raw materials for use in ELC's skin care products.
Located in Olen, Belgium, the BioTech Hub will leverage the region's expertise in biotechnology and plans to collaborate with ELC's R&D labs in New York. The facility will be led by Dr. Caroline Paulussen, reinforcing ELC's commitment to advancing women in STEM. Commercial production is expected to begin in 2025.
Carl Haney, executive vice president, research, product, and innovation officer, ELC, "This site will serve as a critical space for our scientists to continue embedding sustainability at the start of the product development process."
The BioTech Hub will increase ELC's capacity for in-house production of bio-based raw materials and optimize manufacturing processes. Production testing has been underway, with commercial production expected to begin in 2025.
