Premium Labels & Packaging Solutions (PLPS) has boosted its sustainability commitment with the launch of its Earth+ range of sustainable packaging solutions, in addition to an EcoVadis Silver certification and new employee initiatives.
Next-Generation Sustainable Packaging: PLPS Earth+ Labels, Sleeves, and Flexible Solutions
PLPS Earth+ PS comprises a line of pressure sensitive labels for both PET and HDPE containers, while PLPS Earth+ Shrink is a line of shrink sleeves for PET and HDPE.
Label and shrink sleeve products represent the next generation of recycled packaging, reportedly simplifying recycling for consumers by eliminating the need to remove labels and sleeves from containers.
PLPS' Earth+ Flex range of flexible packaging, meanwhile, allows for photo-quality graphics while reducing environmental impact. This product provides a significant oxygen and moisture barrier, per PLPS, making it ideal for a wide range of dry goods. It is also compatible with the How2Recycle program and can be conveniently dropped off at participating locations, including major retail stores.
The company notes that all Earth+ product components meet APR critical guidance. The current line is 100% recyclable; more products are reportedly being developed to enhance the portfolio.
PLPS' plant locations are also reportedly reducing environmental harm by reducing ink, water, solvent and waste. In addition, its PLPS Community Cares initiative encourages employee engagement in events that align with the company's environmental mission. The company incentivizes participation by providing paid time off.
Supporting Businesses in the Transition to Sustainable Packaging
“Many of our clients have told us that they want to move towards sustainable packaging but are overwhelmed because it can be a complicated process with numerous ramifications," said Leslie Gurland, VP of sales and marketing. “We understand that transitioning to sustainable packaging is challenging, which is why our experts provide end-to-end support. We’ll collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure the final product meets both aesthetic goals and recyclability criteria. Our technical specialists can be on press during trials, at the contract manufacturing facility during product filling, and at recycling centers to ensure the final product passes."
"As a proud member of the label and packaging community, we embrace our responsibility to make eco-conscious choices that protect our planet,” said CEO Chris Payne.
Earlier this year, the company updated its mission statement to emphasize being a trusted partner, supporting client success, and driving positive environmental impact. Payne highlighted that including "positive environmental impact" was a deliberate choice to shape both client work and company culture.
The CEO added, "We are driven by the belief that sustainable practices inspire sustainable results. That’s why we approached this initiative with a holistic mindset, impacting every facet of our business—from our raw materials to our products to our plant operations and, of course, our people.”
PLPS has been awarded the EcoVadis Silver badge following a 2024 assessment. This global evaluation recognizes sustainability performance across four key areas: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
“Once we started the product development process for PLPS Earth+, we knew we couldn’t stop there,” said Gurland. "Our mantra became ‘every day should be Earth Day,’ which led us to undergo an assessment of our practices by EcoVadis.”
Gurland added, “In 2024, EcoVadis received applications from over 150,000 companies in 185 countries. We are honored to have scored a Silver Badge, which signifies that we rated in the Top 15% of all companies, a significant achievement for our first assessment,” added Gurland.
