One Click Retail has analyzed Amazon U.S.'s performance in the beauty, health and personal care space during Q1 2018.
According to One Click Retail, the estimated total sales for health and personal care products was more than $1.9 billion, a YOY (year-over-year) growth of 31%. The estimated total sales for beauty products exceeded $900 million, a YOY growth of 30%. The estimated total sales for luxury beauty was said to have grown to over $200 million, a YOY growth of 57%.
When it comes to the top beauty categories on Amazon U.S., One Click Retail found that mass skin care lead the way with over $160 million in sales, followed by personal hygiene with over $110 million in sales, shaving and hair removal with over $100 million in sales, oral care appliances with over $90 million in sales and mass hair care with over $70 million in sales.
During Q1 2018, the top beauty items on Amazon U.S. were Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay Facial & Body Mask, TruSKin Naturals Vitamin C Serum for Face and Men's Rogaine Hair Loss & Hair Thinning Treatment.
One Click Retail explained, "The biggest trend today is that consumers are willing to spend more for high-end beauty products—and increasingly so. For over a year now, Professional salon and spa has been the fastest-growing beauty category on Amazon, nearly doubling in size and driving so much traffic that Amazon recently introduced a unique badge for items classified as Professional Beauty."
The top luxury beauty categories on Amazon U.S. included professional salon and spa with over $50 million in sales, luxury skin care with over $40 million sales, beauty appliances with over $30 million in sales, derma skin care with over $30 million in sales and cosmetics with over $20 million in sales.
