Beauty and cosmetics apps can now enter The Webby Awards, an international award honoring excellence on the Internet. Reflecting the major impact that apps are having on Internet culture and commerce, the 15th Annual Webby Awards announced 16 new categories honoring apps for handheld and tablet devices, including Best Shopping, Guides/Ratings/Reviews and Services. A diverse mix of mobile experts, including Twitter co-founder Biz Stone and Foursquare co-founder Dennis Crowley, will judge the new awards.
To enter an app in the 15th Annual Webby Awards, visit www.webbyawards.com. The early entry deadline is Oct. 29, 2010.
“Apps have transformed the online experience, providing the beauty and cosmetics industry with a powerful new tool to reach consumers in new and exciting ways,” said David-Michel Davies, executive director of the Webby Awards. “We’re looking forward to honoring not only the app innovators but also the websites, videos, and advertising that continue to shape the Internet’s future.”
In addition to categories honoring apps, real estate companies can also enter The 15th Annual Webby Awards in categories such as Best Beauty and Cosmetics Website. Nominees will be announced in April, and winners will be honored at the gala ceremony in June 2011. In keeping with Webby tradition, all winners’ speeches are limited to five words.
