Line -Smoothing Eye CreamLine -Smoothing Eye CreamDeindeDeinde has launched a new Line-Smoothing Eye Cream, designed to target fine lines and eye creases, enhancing the elasticity and hydration of the eye area.

Deinde claims the new product is powered by 95% biobased ingredients, including the biotech ingredient naringenin. This material, which helped reduce inflammaging in skin cells by 96% in lab testing, brings potency, purity and precision to the table, contributing to a refreshed appearance, per the brand.

The Line-Smoothing Eye Cream's clinical trial results show significant improvement in skin hydration, firmness, fine line reduction and under-eye smoothness within eight weeks of usage. Participant feedback was positive, with 93% reporting improvements in fine lines around the eye area, and 90% noticing improved texture and smoothness.

In addition to naringenin, Deinde's Line-Smoothing Eye Cream also features biotech hexapeptide, biotech biomimetic skin matrix compound, ceramides and hyaluronic acid. These ingredients work together to support natural collagen production, improve skin firmness and bind moisture to the skin, visibly plumping the eye area for a smooth, rejuvenated effect.

Deinde's use of lab-produced naringenin, instead of traditionally extracted alternatives, supports the company's commitment to sustainability. This approach reduces reliance on land, water and fruit resources, which are typically necessary for ingredient extraction.

Q&A with Deinde’s CEO Joshua Britton

Global Cosmetic Industry: Why is it important for skin care brands to target inflammaging as part of a preventative skin health care regimen?Deinde CEO Joshua BrittonDeinde CEO Joshua BrittonDeinde

JB: Unlike acute inflammation, the short-term response to skin disruption, inflammaging is defined as the chronic, low-level inflammation within the skin barrier that accelerates early signs of aging. Prolonged levels of this low-grade inflammation lead to collagen and elastin degradation, progressive tissue damage and the deterioration of skin cells working at their most optimal, regenerative potential. Inflammaging is caused by emotional stress, UV exposure, pollutants, infection and more, resulting in the five signs of inflammaging - fine lines, dullness, uneven skin tone, dryness, and uneven texture. Research shows that Deinde products interrupt the inflammaging process, preventing future damage to skin.

Global Cosmetic Industry: What drove you to update the pricing of your products?

JB: Deinde’s mission is to broaden the reach and benefits of biotech beauty. The beauty industry faces a decades long innovation lag that’s ripe for disruption – with many of the same active ingredients repackaged for “new” products. Biotech delivers higher performing, novel active ingredients that are inherently sustainable and pure.

We are proud to announce that we are reducing the price of two of our best-selling products—Deinde Skin-Strengthening Serum and Deinde Barrier-Building Moisture Cream. With the excitement and success around Deinde’s first year in the market, we were able to scale the production of these two products along with their novel ingredient, biotech naringenin—allowing us to lower specific manufacturing costs and pass the benefit back to the consumer. With over 80 scientists behind the brand, Deinde is committed to advancing topical skin care with its nimble go-to-market product strategy that delivers higher-performing biotech-derived active ingredients at accessible, masstige price points.

Global Cosmetic Industry: Any comments on current trends within the anti-aging skin care market?

JB: With macro trends driving an embrace of preventative healthcare, along with a growing understanding of how diet and lifestyle impact our longevity, we’re seeing a similar philosophy applied to skin care. Consumers are actively seeking science-backed and clinically proven skin care products that prioritize skin health and have third-party validation from credible safety seals and board-certified dermatologists.

In this last year, we also saw growing interest around ‘inflammaging’ – with a 285% increase in search of “inflammaging” on Google between Q1 24 and Q3 24 and in-depth coverage of the term in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and National Geographic. With this newfound awareness of inflammaging comes greater consumer insight into how to disrupt this chronic, low-level inflammation, maintain the skin barrier and decelerate early signs of aging.

We also continue to see the rise of “skinimalism,” an embrace of straightforward, pared down yet highly effective skin care routines. With this comes the expectation that products provide multifunctional benefits. Ultimately, the skin care consumer is more discerning and educated on skin care health now more than ever, so clinically proven and science backed products are increasingly nonnegotiable.

Another interesting trend is the overall decline in surgical beauty procedures for more minimally or noninvasive ones, like injectables, over the last several years. With topicals becoming more and more effective, we hope to see this trend pushed even further. While we are not seeing a decline in Botox and other injectables at the moment, we do see terms like #notox and #botoxdetox gaining momentum on social, and as we all know, these microtrends can often foreshadow the larger status quo in several months to a year from now.

And finally, we think biotech beauty will expand the preventative skin care category with its ability to unlock new and novel ingredients that deliver optimal potency and purity and, in turn, target skin care concerns through topicals in a more precise way. With this trend, we expect to see even more consumers challenging brands to deliver products backed by scientific research to support overall skin health.  We’ve also noticed that consumers are expecting more out of clean beauty’s promises.  Biotech beauty solves many of clean beauty’s shortcomings by offering safe, highly effective skin care ingredients that put less of a strain on natural resources and provide more transparent supply chain practices.  We envision a future where consumers demand less reliance on natural and fossil fuel-derived materials and therefore ensure our products line is on average at least 95% biobased.

Retailing for $46, the Line-Smoothing Eye Cream is available for purchase at www.Deinde.com.
