Estée Lauder has announced the signing of Anok Yai as its latest global spokesmodel.

Yai will feature in makeup and skin care campaigns across channels. Her first campaign, debuting in August, will be for the company’s top selling Double Wear Stay-in-Place foundation.

Born in Egypt to Sudanese parents, Yai made headlines when she became the first black model to open a Prada runway show in 20 years. Discovered via Instagram after images from her college homecoming went viral, Yai is represented by Next Model Management and has been photographed for the American, Italian and British editions of Vogue.

“We are thrilled to welcome Anok to the brand,” said Stephane de La Faverie, global brand president, Estée Lauder. “Estée Lauder has always chosen women who represent our vision of global beauty. With the addition of Anok to our current lineup of diverse spokesmodels, we continue the brand’s legacy of celebrating women from different backgrounds, ethnicities and ages.”

Added Yai: “I am so excited to be a part of the Estée Lauder family. To be a woman of color representing an iconic brand that has continuously been at the forefront of beauty, is an honor. I hope to be an inspiration to young girls and women and encourage them to feel undeniably beautiful.”
