Brands facing formulation, format and major business challenges are in for a solution-focused treat.
Grant Industries, a global leader in specialty performance ingredients for beauty and personal care, today announced the launch of the Grant and BCR Formulation Assistant, an AI-powered digital tool developed with chemistry-native AI leader, Albert. Available through Grant’s updated website, the assistant gives formulators a faster, more intuitive way to explore Grant and Bio Component Research (BCR) ingredients, starting-point formulations and technical solutions using natural-language questions.
The new platform brings together approved knowledge and expertise from teams across Grant Industries and BCR. Users can describe a formulation goal, performance challenge, format, claim or other business need and receive relevant recommendations drawn from Grant’s own technical resources. The experience is designed to help formulators move from question to viable starting point more efficiently while making Grant’s cross-functional expertise easier to access.
“Formulators do not always begin with an ingredient name—they begin with a challenge, a texture, a claim or an idea they need to make real. This tool lets them start exactly there,” said Naomi Bedford, Marketing Director at Grant Industries.
“By bringing together knowledge from across Grant and BCR in a conversational experience, we are making it easier to discover the right technologies, connect performance needs to practical solutions and accelerate the path from inspiration to formulation.”
Grant’s Formulation Assistant is powered by Ask Albert, an agentic, chemistry-native AI that orchestrates tools and models to answer scientific questions and takes on adaptive roles across the business, from an R&D partner to a customer-facing assistant.
Unlike generic AI that pulls from open- web information, Grant’s Formulation Assistant relies on their organization’s scientific history to build an intelligent system that delivers trusted answers to their customers. As a result, Grant can present best- fit options with context and rationale to customers, helping them identify relevant ingredients and testedstarting-point formulations while keeping Grant’s technical content at the center of the experience.
“Ask Albert’s purpose has always been to enhance an organization’s ability to innovate and succeed. Within R&D organizations, we accomplish this by accelerating the speed of invention. Within commercial organizations, we shorten the distance between what the market is asking for and what R&D is working on,” said Oakley Reid, Senior Product Manager, Albert.
The launch marks a significant step in Grant Industries’ broader digital transformation and commitment to customer-centered innovation. By pairing high-performance ingredient technologies with intelligent discovery tools, Grant aims to help R&D, product development and commercial teams formulate more efficiently and make better-informed decisions earlier in the development process.
