Nils Andersen Named New Unilever Chairman

Unilever's non-executive director, Nils Andersen, is assuming the role of chairman, succeeding Marijn Dekkers, who is stepping down from the role immediately. The company recently reported mixed Q3 results.

Andersen has served on the Unilever board since 2015 and is a member of the board’s audit committee. He previously held roles at A.P. Moller - Maersk A/S, Carlsberg A/S and Carlsberg Breweries A/S, and served as chairman at AkzoNobel N.V. since 2018. He is also a non-executive director at BP plc, from which he will step down, and will cease his role at Salling Group A/S in March 2020.

"I am very proud to have been asked to succeed Marijn and I look forward to working with the board and the Unilever leadership team to support the company’s continued growth.”

Dekkers has served as chairman of Unilever since 2016 and will now focus on his role as founder and chairman of Novalis LifeSciences, an investment and advisory firm.

He will continue to serve as a non-executive director of Unilever.

"My decision to step down has been a difficult one to make but I look forward to seeing Unilever go from strength to strength under Nils as chairman.”
