The Pratt Institute—Luxe Pack "Art of Packaging Award" Gala, benefiting the “Marc Rosen Scholarship for Graduate Package Design” at Pratt Institute, will honor Coty Prestige for its outstanding commitment to package design on April 27, 2010, at New York’s University Club. Catherine Walsh, senior vice president Coty Prestige, will accept the award.
Catherine Walsh is the visionary behind the company’s Calvin Klein, celebrity and designer fragrances. Her 2002 launch of Glow by JLo landed her on the beauty industry’s map, according to event organizers, and ignited a new celebrity fragrance genre. Soon successful partnerships with Gwen Stefani and Sarah Jessica Parker followed. Catherine’s designer fragrances portfolio includes some of the most elite names in fashion. Marc Jacobs, Kenneth Cole and Vera Wang are all best sellers, with Balenciaga’s first major fragrance launch slated for 2010. The largest and most global Coty brand, Calvin Klein, continues to dominate the fragrance landscape.
Bernd Beetz, CEO, Coty Inc., will introduce Walsh. Since his arrival to Coty in 2001, Beetz has transformed the organization and positioned Coty as a leading global beauty company. In the eight years under his leadership, Coty has amplified the company’s global presence growing from a $1.4 billion company to a nearly $4 billion company.
Liz Cho, WABC-TV Eyewitness News co-anchor, will serve as host.
Previous recipients of the prestigious “Art of Packaging Award” include Dior Beauty, Clinique, P&G Beauty, Bath & Body Works, Estée Lauder, Coty, Ralph Lauren Fragrances, Calvin Klein, Lancôme and Avon.
The “Art of Packaging Award” benefits the “Marc Rosen Scholarship for Graduate Design” at Pratt Institute, which was founded in 1989. The scholarships are awarded to promising students who attend the world’s only graduate program in cosmetic package design, taught by Rosen, an internationally renowned designer. Many of the program’s graduates have gone on to illustrious careers in bottle and packaging design for the fragrance and cosmetics industry.
