FIT Student Mia Berninger Awarded Prestigious CIBS Scholarship for Packaging Design

Cosmetic Industry Buyers & Suppliers (CIBS) has awarded Mia Berninger, a senior at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), as the recipient of the 2025 CIBS FIT Scholarship. This award was presented at the recent MakeUp in New York (MUNY) show, highlighting CIBS's commitment to fostering future talent in the cosmetic packaging and beauty industry in New York City.

Berninger is currently pursuing a BFA in Packaging Design at FIT, complemented by minors in Ethics & Sustainability and Creative Technology. CIBSBerninger is currently pursuing a BFA in Packaging Design at FIT, complemented by minors in Ethics & Sustainability and Creative Technology. Her exceptional academic record includes a 3.93 GPA in her packaging courses and an impressive 3.93 overall GPA. Berninger's aspiration is to launch her career as a beauty industry designer in New York City. She has already gained valuable practical experience through internships at Sundays Studio and Fullbeauty Brands.

The scholarship was presented by Honoree and 1996 CIBS President Lauri Larkin, alongside Sebba Alqetrani, a professor of design and engineering at FIT. Alqetrani also moderated a panel discussion at MUNY, featuring industry leaders Sheherazade Chamlou of SGD Pharma and Tereliz Cruzatti. The panel delved into critical topics shaping the beauty industry's evolution, the integration of digital tools in beauty, and the enduring importance of human connection in cosmetics.
