LMR Naturals by IFF has expanded its high-end naturals portfolio with the launch of tonka bean CO₂ absolute, a gourmand-forward ingredient added to its Conscious Collection—a lineup of 12 sustainably sourced, fully traceable naturals designed for perfumery and flavor applications.

Produced at IFF’s supercritical CO₂ extraction facility in Aubrac, France, the new extract is obtained using renewable and recycled CO₂, delivering a lower-impact alternative to traditional solvent-derived tonka materials, per the company. The low-temperature process preserves volatile and delicate molecules while eliminating petrochemical residues, resulting in an extract that captures the olfactive fidelity of freshly harvested tonka beans with a reported 34% lower cradle-to-gate carbon footprint than conventional tonka absolute.

With sourcing rooted in the Amazon basin, the ingredient is positioned to answer growing demand for natural, indulgent scent signatures aligned with comfort and nostalgia trends.

The launch also underscores IFF’s ongoing investment in naturals innovation following the recent €10 million expansion of its LMR Naturals site in Grasse, reinforcing the company’s push to combine sustainability metrics with high-hedonic raw materials for fine fragrance creation.
