Lygos, Inc. recently launched Soltellus (INCI: sodium polyaspartate), a line of high-performing, multi-functional, customizable and sustainable polymers for hair and skin care formulations at NYSCC Suppliers' Day.

Soltellus is a biodegradable alternative to the non-biodegradable polymers used in current personal care formulations. In hair care it enhances softness, smoothness, shine and wet compatibility, producing healthier and moisturized-looking hair, per the company.

In skin care, as a co-surfactant, it ensures a stable, rich, creamy foam and lather that’s easy to spread, resulting in a deeper, more thorough removal of dirt, oil and impurities. As an emulsifier, it improves user experience with a smoother application and luxurious after-feel, preserving formulation quality while leaving skin hydrated without any residue, per the company.

Rich Weber, chief business officer of Lygos, commented: “Soltellus has exhibited strong demand in home care, agronomy and water treatment applications, helping brands and suppliers meet their highest performance and sustainability goals. We’re excited to advance that momentum by bringing our innovative and biodegradable solution to personal care.”
