Clariant showcased a broad portfolio of formulation concepts and ingredient innovations at in-cosmetics Global 2026, highlighting a strategic focus on multifunctionality, skin longevity and mild performance systems aligned with evolving consumer expectations.

Central to its presentation is the “Let True Beauty Glow” formulation concept, a collection of 15 prototype products spanning hair care, body care, skin care, sun care and cleansing. The concept is designed to reflect two major market shifts: growing demand for multifunctional products that deliver greater value, and a parallel move toward simplified, slow beauty routines built on fewer, more transparent ingredients. The formulations emphasize enhancing natural radiance rather than transformation, supporting the continued rise of minimal, non-makeup looks. Concepts such as GlowRay Hair Mist and GlowMelt facial cleanser illustrate how hybrid positioning—combining protection, sensoriality and ease of use—is being translated into market-ready formats.

The system is underpinned by Clariant’s existing ingredient technologies, including Aristoflex rheology modifiers for lightweight textures, Plantasens plant-based emulsifiers and emollients, Eclipsogen UV filters, and Glucotain and Hostapon surfactants for mild cleansing. Each prototype is supported by full technical documentation, including stability and challenge testing, and has been adapted for regional preferences, from mild, skin-barrier-focused formulations in Europe to texture-driven innovations in Asia and performance-led formats in the Americas.

Alongside its formulation concepts, Clariant’s Lucas Meyer Cosmetics division is introducing new active and functional ingredient data. The headline launch is AlgaSurge, a skin longevity active derived from extremophile microalgae using blue biotechnology. The sulfated polysaccharide hydrogel is positioned as a vegan alternative to hyaluronic acid and PDRN, with enhanced resistance to enzymatic degradation for longer-lasting hydration. Its dual molecular structure enables both surface film formation and deeper penetration, supporting moisture retention, pro-collagen I production and restoration of autophagic activity in aged fibroblasts. Clinical testing versus a hyaluronic acid benchmark showed improvements in skin plumpness, density, barrier function and visible signs of aging including wrinkles and uneven tone.

Clariant presented updated efficacy data for Lysofix Liquid, a cold-process emulsifier now shown to deliver additional soothing and barrier-reinforcing benefits in skin care, alongside improved fiber strength and combability in hair applications. The ingredient’s cross-category performance reflects increasing formulator demand for multifunctional materials that reduce formulation complexity while maintaining high performance.

In cleansing, the company is expanding its mild surfactant portfolio with Hostapon CT solid, a salt-free sodium methyl cocoyl taurate with 90% active content. The ingredient is designed to address rising demand for gentle cleansing solutions, particularly as dry skin claims continue to grow in new product development. It delivers stable, dense foam with high oil resistance while maintaining low irritation potential, enabling formulators to create clear or pearlescent systems with enhanced sensorial properties. Sustainability credentials include an 80% Renewable Carbon Index and RSPO Mass Balance certification.
