Ashland's stabileze S Polymer Replaces Multiple Rheology Modifiers with One Nature-Derived Solution

The ingredient is positioned as an alternative to both acrylate-based rheology modifiers and other nature-derived thickeners, offering comparable sensory performance with smooth application, rapid absorption and a soft, powdery after-feel without tackiness, greasiness or pilling. In addition to being cold-processable, stabileze s polymer provides strong heat stability, giving formulators greater manufacturing flexibility.

Ashland has introduced stabileze s polymer, a starch-based rheology modifier designed to simplify formulation by combining emulsion stabilization, thickening and suspension into a single nature-derived ingredient.

Based on sodium carboxymethyl starch, the proprietary polymer builds a strong three-dimensional network that delivers stability across a wide range of textures—from lightweight sprays and serums to rich creams and butters—while typically requiring just 1% to 2% use levels.

Ashland is also highlighting the ingredient's sustainability credentials. With an 85% naturality index under ISO 16128, the polymer is nature-derived, vegan suitable, non-GMO, non-ecotoxic and not classified as a microplastic. It is also globally compliant, with listings on both IECIC and IECSC.

Suitable for leave-on skin care, sun care and hair care applications, stabileze s polymer reflects the growing demand for multifunctional ingredients that reduce formulation complexity while supporting clean beauty claims, premium sensory performance and streamlined product development.
