The global COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak is impacting beauty travel retail, event scheduling, supply chains, shopper habits and more. To get a sense of how U.S. consumers are faring, Spate analyzed U.S. Google search trends for insights.

Key findings:

  • "How to wash your hands" searches have grown 78% since last year
  • "Hand Sanitizer" searches have grown 275% since last year (+175% since January)

Growth in searches in the United States for vitamins to boost immune systems:

  • elderberry: 52.4% since last year
  • vitamin C: 25% since last year
  • echinacea 13.1% since last year
  • zinc: 7.7% since last year
