The beauty industry was worth $425 billion in 2015, according to a new analysis by Euromonitor, driven by color cosmetics and premium beauty and challenged by slowdowns in China and Brazil.

The United States and Asia Pacific were particularly strong markets for beauty. In China and the United States, skin care, color cosmetics and fragrance were top categories.

Premium beauty categories in order of growth were:

  • baby- and child-specific products
  • color cosmetics
  • fragrances
  • sun care
  • deodorants
  • skin care
  • bath and shower
  • hair care
