As Global Cosmetic Industry noted last year, "Beauty consumers have enthusiastically embraced wellness, and wellness is the prism through which people now understand beauty. This can be seen in the appropriation of wellness terms by beauty marketers—words such as 'energy' and 'de-stressing' resonate with consumers."
Recently, wellness retailer Saje announced that it was coming to the United States. Its first U.S. store will open in Malibu, California, at the end of November, with more than 25 new locations opening across the West Coast before a New York store opens in 2017.
"With over 15% of our online customer base organically coming from the United States, we knew the time was right to expand our retail presence..."
The company freely mixes wellness and beauty into a holistic offering that includes products to address headaches, skin conditions, stress and more, as well as skin care, body care and essential oils.
The company's product innovation is headed by Kiara LeBlanc, creative director and VP of brand, which is plant-based and free of ingredients such as fragrance parabens and synthetic colors.
Its 500-plus products include the Peppermint Halo cooling and energizing roll-on featuring peppermint, rosemary and eucalyptus, the Fortify antitussive cough suppressant with menthol, Zen Cleanse facial cleanser, Bliss Mist facial toner, Amaze Eye moisturizing cream and Konjac Care yam-extract-enriched cleansing sponge.
"For the past 25 years, our mission has been to connect as many people as possible with the highest quality natural wellness products, offering new ways to combat everyday ailments and discover optimal health," said Saje Natural Wellness co-founder and CEO, Kate Ross LeBlanc. "With over 15% of our online customer base organically coming from the United States, we knew the time was right to expand our retail presence, giving our U.S. community the best way to experience Saje products."
