Thierry Mugler and ck Calvin Klein Launch Cosmetics Lines

Fashion and fragrance combine into two new color cosmetics lines launched by Thierry Mugler and ck Calvin Klein. Mugler’s debut color cosmetics line, The Art of Metamorphosis, includes complexion-correcting foundations, eye palettes, lip lacquers, cheek stains and more sold in U.S. Bloomingdale’s stores, as well as in department stores throughout Indonesia, Australia and Europe.

Mugler, the futuristic fashion designer who joined the fragrance business in 1992 with such scents as Angel—noted as the No. 1 women’s fragrance in France that year—and the new Miroir Miroir perfume collection, conceived his cosmetics line from his already successful fragrance business. As for his fashion flare, his style has been flaunted globally, including on a Las Vegas stage during the sensuous 2003 version of Cirque du Soleil’s Zumanity show.

Equally equitable in the fashion world, ck Calvin Klein also recently developed a color cosmetics line, ck Calvin Klein Beauty, under current company owner, Phillips-Van Heusen.

ck Calvin Klein, through a licensing agreement with Markwins Holding Company Limited (which owns brands such as wet n wild), reinterpreted its runway fashions into beauty product colors and textures for nails and all parts of the face. Glosses, shadows, pencils, brushes, oil-free foundations and more highlight the skin in the new collection.

Unlike the previously launched Calvin Klein Cosmetics line from 2000, then owned by Unilever, the products have been discontinued, and Coty acquired Unilever’s former Calvin Klein license for fragrances. ck Calvin Klein Beauty first debuted in Italy, France, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The line can now also be purchased online at and in select Macy’s and Dillard’s stores across the U.S.
