Empowering Beauty Literacy: Bridging the Gap Between Consumers and Industry Expertise
"The past two years of beauty education on social platforms have revealed a simple truth—most people don’t know what they don’t know," Alexis Androulakis tells Global Cosmetic Industry. "And for those eager to learn, there has been no clear way to take that knowledge deeper, pulling back the curtain that has been closed to consumers and those outside the industry for decades. But the demand for real beauty education is undeniable—our viral successes and countless requests for a digital course proved that people want to learn. So, we listened to our community and built exactly that.”
Christina Basias Androulakis, Ph.D., adds, “We combined our expertise in beauty and education and partnered with industry veteran chemist Julio Pina to change the way beauty knowledge is shared. Our goal was simple: to create an education platform that answers the most pressing questions: What are these beauty products designed to do? What was the intention behind their creation? And how should we think about choosing one over another?”
Alexis Androulakis concludes, “For the first time, both consumers and professionals have access to insider knowledge they wouldn’t otherwise have. This is the true democratization of beauty, powered by what we call beauty literacy—teaching people, not just telling them, how to find what works for them and empowering them to think critically about their beauty choices by asking the right questions.”
