Starco Brands' Skylar clean fragrance brand, which the company acquired in January 2023, has reportedly posted "its most profitable quarter ever in Q3 2023."
The brand's revenue increase for the quarter was in part a result of Skylar increasing its conversion rates, doubling its sales on Amazon and posting a 45% sales spike at Sephora compared to the previous year’s corresponding period.
Skylar supported its growth with a focus on digital marketing, influencer partnerships, a reduction in staff and associated automation, and expanded retail immersion at Amazon and Sephora.
Marketing on Amazon involved leveraging the retail platform's data and analytics tools, while Sephora efforts included targeted campaigns to beauty enthusiasts and in-store promotions, alongside online marketing.
The growth comes amid a boom in Gen Z fragrance usage. Earlier this year, Circana reported that, in the last year, Gen Z fragrance usage increased 5% to 83%.
It also follows Skylar's expansion beyond scent. In September 2023, Skylar expanded into the hair category with the launch of its Hair & Body Mists line, in scents Vanilla Sky, Coconut Cove and Peach Fields.
“We are thrilled with Skylar’s extraordinary performance since joining the Starco Brands family," said Ross Sklar, CEO of Starco Brands. "This success story is a testament to our strategic vision and the team’s relentless pursuit of innovation and excellence. Skylar’s record-breaking quarter is not just a milestone for the brand but a clear indication of our ability to identify and cultivate brands with immense potential. Our focus on synergizing operations, optimizing marketing strategies, and strengthening retail partnerships has been instrumental in this achievement. As we continue to grow, we remain committed to Skylar’s core values of sustainability and well-being, ensuring that every step is a stride towards a better future for our modern, conscientious consumer and our planet.”
