Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW) announced the 10 finalists for its first-ever Eco Beauty Award, which is being sponsored by Givaudan. The finalists are: Alterna Haircare’s Bamboo Smooth; Amala‘s Rejuvenate Collection; Aveda’s Men Pure-Formance Family; Jurlique’s Purely Age-Defying; Super by Dr. Nicholas Perricone; Pomega, Inc.’s Healing Cream; Sophyto Organic Skincare; The Body Shop’s Rainforest Hair Care Collection; Vapour Organic Beauty; and Yves Rocher North America Inc’s Culture Bio.
“We’re seeing more and more beauty brands focus on sustainability to offset environmental impact,” remarked CEW president Carlotta Jacobson. “As a leading trade organization for the beauty industry, it’s important that we recognize those companies and products.”
CEW established the Eco Beauty Award to encourage the beauty industry to take steps toward sustainability. This new category garnered more than 40 entrants. The winner will be revealed at the 17th annual CEW Beauty Awards on May 20, 2011, at the Waldorf=Astoria New York.
The finalists were selected by The Natural Step, a global organization whose mission is to enable communities to better understand and integrate environmental, social and economic considerations toward sustainability. A special Eco Beauty Award voting committee will ultimately vote on the winner.
