Gartner identified three trends that landed these companies a spot on the Supply Chain Top 25 ranking: being purpose-driven, transforming the business model and frequently adopting digital technology.

Gartner, Inc. has released the results from its annual Supply Chain Top 25, in which Colgate-Palmolive and Johnson & Johnson received the second and third rankings, respectively. L’Oréal scored the number 10 designation and Reckitt Benckiser, new to the list this year, earned number 23 in the ranking.

Three key trends stand out this year for the supply chain leaders that are accelerating their capabilities, separating them further from the rest of the pack: being purpose-driven organizations and working to solve large-scale problems through partnerships with the broader community; transforming the business model by reinventing offerings or acquiring startups to meet the expanded consumer expectations in order to compete in new/reinvented markets; and acting as digital orchestrators by frequently adopting digital technologies, which enable businesses to continue thriving in harsh economic conditions.

“In our 16th edition of the Supply Chain Top 25 we have an impressive group of leaders with new lessons to share, including a diverse set of six new entrants,” Mike Griswold, vice president analyst with the Gartner Supply Chain practice, said. “With substantial amounts of the economy closed due the COVID-19 pandemic, leaders need an agile strategy that allows the supply chain organization to sense and respond to changes in the business context as they happen. Our ranking highlights companies that possess these strategies and other differentiating capabilities.”
