Unilever Takes Stake in True Botanicals

True Botanicals' direct-to-consumer approach helped attract Unilever's investment.

Unilever Ventures has established a minority stake in True Botanicals, which focuses on "super concentrated, bio-active ingredients" for skin care and anti-aging products. The products are marketed direct-to-consumer. Consumers can select their ideal products by taking a two-minute online quiz that helps customize the experience and collects data for the brand.

According to reports, the latest round of funding totaled more than $3 million.

Unilever previously acquired Living Proof, Dollar Shave Club and Seventh Generation.

Unilever Ventures seeks out sustainable and disruptive innovators, according to the firm.
