The new factory will produce medium-to-high-priced skin care products, like those by Elixir, for Japan and overseas markets. With strict quality standards, and in accordance with the international standard ISO 22716, the factory will realize “high-quality” by introducing an IoT system and expanding digitized line management for quality assurance.

With more than 60% of Shiseido’s employees being women, the company designed the Nasu Factory to reflect reform initiatives from the female perspective, including upgraded canteens, toilets and changing rooms.

The factory will also establish a “Technology Training Center” and “Technical Academy” to hand down manufacturing techniques/technologies for future growth.

The Nasu Factory will use CO2-free electricity as part of the “Tochigi Furusato Electric” program and with support from Tochigi prefecture, and the high quality Ohtawara City groundwater will be further refined and used in cosmetics.

To support the continuous growth of the Japan and overseas markets, Shiseido has also scheduled for operation to commence at the Osaka Ibaraki Factory and Fukuoka Kurume Factory in the second half of 2020 and the first half of 2022, respectively.
