"My organization is Latinas in Beauty, and we're a mission-driven organization dedicated to cultivating equity and increasing representation of Latina professionals in the beauty industry," says founder and executive director Emily Perez.
She adds, "Latinas in Beauty is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to advancing Latina representation and equity across the beauty industry—from founders to C-suite professionals. We empower, educate, and elevate Latina professionals through programs that combine visibility, workforce development, mentorship and cultural consulting."
The organization is participating in NYSCC's Suppliers' Day 2025 Indie Pavilion (booth 2319), "dedicated to highlighting new to market indie beauty brands that have novel ingredients, formulations and unique concepts," according to the organization. The event will also allow voting on participants as part of its People's Choice Award of Indie 360°.
The award announcement will take place during a champagne toast on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Indie Pavilion.
"Despite spending over $12 billion in 2024 and outspending peers by 30% on beauty products, Latinas represent less than 1% of C-suite leadership in beauty and founders receive less than 0.04% in funding," Perez explains.
To counteract these issues, Latinas in Beauty has secured signatures to its Pledge for Equity from L’Oréal, Ulta Beauty, Amika and more than 200 industry leaders, according to the group.
Those who sign the pledge to support Latine beauty creators, leaders and brands by amplifying voices, increasing representation, and providing funding and opportunities.
Latinas in Beauty has also secured sponsorships with Kitsch and Nordstrom.
