Cylinder shake studies found that 4% Phytofoam increased the height of foam by 13% and 61% with SLES and sodium lauroyl sarcosinate, respectively—leading to a denser and creamier foam. Additional testing found, in skin soiled with carbon particles, Phytofoam removed 50% of the particles after washing.

Tolerance of the ingredient tested at 5% or 10%,  evaluated by HRIPT and HCE, found the active to be non-irritating. Finally, a “no tears” test carried out with the active at 5% in an aqueous solution, used at 10% to reproduce real conditions of use, found the ingredient causes no stinging to the eyes.

According to the company, the natural and non-irritating active respects sensitive skin and delicate regions of the face, such as eyes and lips. As such, it gently cleanses to remove impurities associated with pollution and makeup, and is suitable for makeup removers or hair and body cleansers for babies and children.
