Discount Grocer Introduces Skin Care Line to U.S.

Discount grocer Aldi is launching its Lacura skin care in its U.S. stores. Already available in Europe, the premium positioned line includes facial toners and cleansers, facial creams, eye creams and gels, lip balm, and facial masks and peeling gels. The company states that the Q10 Anti-wrinkle Night Cream has performed well in independent blind tests, and is experiencing notable success in many of its current markets—reportedly selling 35,000 jars one day in Britain. Products retail from $1.99 to $4.99

"Our Lacura skin care formulas have won wide acclaim in Europe, so we're thrilled to be bringing them to U.S. consumers," said Joan Kavanaugh, vice president of corporate purchasing, Aldi. "Every product features nature's finest ingredients and the latest skin care research to really nurture the skin. In fact, we use the same hard-working ingredients you'll find behind more expensive labels.

Lacura ingredients include bioflavonoids, coenzyme Q10, a special retinol complex, sea minerals, provitamin B5, aloe vera, vitamins C and E, allantoin and other active extracts.
