Leslie Blodgett to Speak at ICMAD Young Designer Awards

At the 2011 Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers & Distributors Association (ICMAD) Young Designers competition, which features design students creating new and innovative package designs for the cosmetic industry, the association announced Leslie Blodgett, creator of bareMinerals and executive chairman of Bare Escentuals, will present the awards, being held at Twenty Four Fifth in New York on September 21.

In 2006, Blodgett took Bare Escentuals public in one of the largest cosmetic IPOs in the last decade and sold the company to Shiseido in 2010 for $1.8 billion. Currently serving on the board of Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW), Blodgett was the first recipient of the CEW Achiever Award in 2006 for her contributions to the beauty industry. She is committed to making women happy; an approach that is anchored in engaging in real, open and honest dialogue, which has transformed Bare Escentuals into a peer-to-peer community of its own.

The schools participating in this year’s Young Designer Awards are: The American Academy of Art in Chicago, the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) in Los Angeles, the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and the Miami International University of Art & Design in Miami. As winners of the awards, three students will be recognized with a first prize of $2,500, second prize of $1,500 and third prize of $1,000.
