Ecovia Intelligence Announces 2018 Sustainable Beauty Award Winners

Ecovia Intelligence has announced the winners of the 2018 Sustainable Beauty Awards.

The awards recognize organizations “pushing the boundaries of sustainability in the beauty industry.” Winners and runners-up were selected from a pool of about 100 international entries, by a jury comprised of an ingredient firm, retailer, formulator, media agency, natural cosmetics industry organization and research firm.

Around 160 senior beauty industry executives attended the awards reception, which was held at the Paris Marriott Champs-Elysées.

New Sustainable Product: PharmMatt (France)—Frescoryl Toothpaste in Tablet, a toothpaste that can be used without water and brushing.

Runner-up: Apivita (Greece)—Pindos Wild Herbs body care range

Sustainable Packaging: Ren Clean Skincare (U.K.)—Atlantic Kelp & Magnesium Anti-Fatigue body wash, which has 100% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic bottles that comprise 20% ocean plastic

Runner-up: Hair O’Right (Taiwan)—renewable shampoo bottle pump

Sustainable Ingredient: Clariant Active Ingredients (Germany)—Eosidin, a natural active extracted from green citrus unshiu from Jeju Island, designed to target atopic-prone skin and hypersensitivity triggered by indoor pollution

Runner-up: Advonex International Corporation (Canada)—Entrada, plant-based materials which replace petroleum-based carriers in cosmetic and personal care formulations

Sustainability Pioneer: Neal’s Yard Remedies (U.K.)—Recognized for its carbon management and biodiversity programs; the company celebrated 10 years of carbon neutrality this year

Runner-up: Weleda (Switzerland)—Recognized for developing and implementing the UEBT “Sourcing with Respect” certification scheme

Sustainability Leadership: Weleda (Switzerland)—Recognized for implementing a range of sustainability initiatives involving raw material sourcing, biodiversity and conservation, green formulations, packaging, CSR and corporate philanthropy and social impacts

Runner-up: Neal’s Yard Remedies (U.K.)—Recognized for its green manufacturing facility, novel sustainable packaging, organic ingredients and “various CSR initiatives”
