Glossier, which announced retail closures related to COVID-19 on March 12, has laid off all retail employees in New York, Los Angeles and London, many of whom have been furloughed since early June. The company will also not be renewing its third-party contract for its London pop-up.
"As a digital-first company, we have always viewed our offline experiences as a channel for connection and community, and that mandate has not changed," said founder and CEO Emily Weiss.

Weiss noted that the company will be "reimagining Glossier retail for the future so that we can reopen with renewed creativity, energy, and scale when it is safe to do so."
And, no surprise, the company will put resources into e-commerce, the brand's main channel, particularly as online beauty sales have skyrocketed.
