In-cosmetics Latin America has come to a close but attendees walked away having discovered new ingredients and novel clinical data insights—which was especially the case with Givaudan Active Beauty and the latest findings for its ResistHyal (INCI: Water (aqua) (and) Sodium Hyaluronate (and) Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid (and) Phenoxyethanol (and) Lactic Acid) hair care ingredient.
Brazilian consumers lent their hair to evaluate the ingredient in product concepts making their debut at the show. In total, Givaudan performed 50 clinical tests in volunteers, who used shampoo and conditioner formulas containing 3% of the hair beauty-enhancing ingredient. Results revealed 83% of test subjects would continue using the prototype products, and 74% would trade their current shampoo and conditioner for the prototype products.
Taking Control of Hair
As noted, these sample formulas were part of a new hair care concept, "Under Control." This concept comprises shampoo, conditioner and spray formulas incorporating ResistHyal that work together to reduce frizz, improve volume and repair hair, while adding shine.
“The 'Under Control' hair care line builds on the multifunctional properties of ResistHyal,” said Céline Dinant, innovation formulation manager for the company. “Delivering seven benefits at once, this ingredient avoids [the need to add] various chemical ingredients to enhance the beauty of hair, thus reducing formulation cost and possible scalp irritations.
"Sustainable by nature, this active enables [formulators] to design very pure formulations that seduce consumers. It shows that with only one powerful ingredient combined with a nice texture and fragrance, you can obtain an attractive concept with a wide range of benefits. Simply try it and let yourself be conquered.”
