Rite Aid Offers Update on Beauty Chemical Management Efforts

Rite Aid has released its 2021 CSR Report, which outlines the company’s strides in working with supplier partners to curate a clean, safe product assortment.

Rite Aid recently underwent a rebrand that aims to "transform the classic retail pharmacy into a destination for whole health, where customers can discover an enhanced mix of wellness products including supplements, on-trend skin care items and natural beauty products."

The company highlighted the following milestones in its chemical management efforts:

  • From 2019-2020, Rite Aid launched more than 278 own-brand items free of “Evil 8” chemicals and reformulated more than 60 items to eliminate these chemicals.
  • As of March 2021, only 13 formulas (1% of its assortment) contained these chemicals. Rite Aid continues to work with its suppliers to reformulate the outstanding formulas.
  • In the Safer Chemicals, Healthy Families 5th annual “Who’s Minding the Store?” retailer report card, Rite Aid was the leading traditional drug store chain for its efforts to reduce or eliminate toxic chemicals from products sold.
