Kokuma is introducing its biotech-derived depigmenting active Tonasulike-D to the U.S. market, highlighting clinically demonstrated visible spot reduction within 21 days across all skin tones.
The Brussels-based beauty biotech company will present the ingredient at SCALE Nashville (May 13-17, 2026) ahead of its first exhibition at NYSCC Suppliers’ Day (May 19-20, 2026).
Positioned as a clinically supported alternative to traditional depigmentation agents, Tonasulike-D is designed for inclusion in premium skin care and pre- and post-procedure formulations, with dermatological interest underscored by newly appointed scientific adviser Michael Gold, MD, who noted strong demand in the U.S. market for non-hydroquinone-based solutions with robust clinical validation.
Backed by three years of R&D, the patented active targets melanogenesis and melanosome transfer through a multi-pathway mechanism and has demonstrated consistent clinical performance in skin types III–V, with visible improvement from day 21 and continued progression through 12 weeks, including up to a 24% increase in brightness (ITA) in darker skin tones.
Odorless, stable, and formulation-friendly, Tonasulike-D is intended for broad cosmetic applications addressing hyperpigmentation, melasma and post-inflammatory discoloration, and follows its prior scientific presentation at the IFSCC 2025 Congress as it enters U.S. commercialization.
