Estée Laundry is an Inside Job

A new source of criticism for beauty is reportedly coming from inside the industry.
A new source of criticism for beauty is reportedly coming from inside the industry.

With 91,000 followers after just 400 posts, Estée Laundry is an "anonymous beauty collective" supporting "power to the people" by building a whistle-blowing network of beauty insiders and outsiders to hold the industry to task. Purportedly run by beauty professionals, the account targets cultural appropriation, transphobia, inclusion issues, sustainability (specifically criticizing the proliferation of free samples), product quality and more.

Recent targets of criticism have included Dior Parfums, Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics, Kylie Jenner, Gucci and more.

While criticism of the beauty industry is hardly new, the reach and insider status of the collective offers a new source of scrutiny.
