Keys Soulcare and COSRX both launched new dermatologist-backed SPF skin care offerings that pledge to protect the skin from the sun’s harmful rays while addressing the signs of aging.
The launches come amid a boom in sun care. In Q2, sunscreen sales grew by 51%, versus 2021, per NPD. This strong growth rate was on top of the 60% experienced in Q1.
Singer Alicia Keys partnered with dermatologist Renée Snyder, M.D., to develop Keys Soulcare’s first SPF product in its skin care line: Protect Your Light Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30. The clean, noncomedogenic, vegan and cruelty-free formula protects and hydrates without leaving a white cast.
The Protect Your Light Daily Moisturizer with SPF 30 is a lightweight, non-greasy daily moisturizer and sunscreen that provides broad spectrum UVA and UVB protection.
It is also infused with squalene, a plant-based, lipid-rich moisturizer that helps soften the skin.
In addition, the formulation includes niacinamide, a potent form of vitamin B3 that helps brighten and balance the skin’s appearance.
The Protect Your Light Daily Moisturizer SPF 30 is available at keyssoulcare.com and will be available at ulta.com on Aug. 14.
COSRX, a Korean skin care brand, has released its Vitamin E Vitalizing Sunscreen SPF 50+, which meets the requirements for broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection and repairs the appearance of aging and damaged skin, according to the company.
The Vitamin E Vitalizing Sunscreen SPF 50+ is a daily sun protector formulated with chemical-based SPF ingredients that are paired with vitamin E, an antioxidant that reduces free radicals and diminishes the visible signs of aging and skin damage.
Theobroma cacao (cocoa) extract also helps to fight the signs of aging by removing free radicals and preventing dryness.
In addition, the formulation provides a semi-matte finish. It prevents the skin from looking greasy by using silica to control sebum as well as to shrink pore size and improve skin texture
Cotton extract also keeps the greasiness at bay by absorbing and controlling oil while helping to alleviate redness.
COSRX says it worked closely with dermatologists to develop the lightweight, fast-absorbing formulation so that it is suitable for all skin types, including those with sensitive skin, and doesn’t leave a white cast.
The Vitamin E Vitalizing Sunscreen SPF 50+ is hypoallergenic; dermatologist-tested; not tested on animals; and free of parabens, sulfates and phthalates.
The sunscreen is available at Amazon and on corsrx.com.
